KreditBee and Square Yards Join the Billion-Dollar Ranks
The global private "Unicorn Club" continues to reward companies that possess deep, operational cash flows and localized market infrastructure. The latest private market tracking reports confirm that digital lending platform KreditBee and property technology leader Square Yards have officially minted their Unicorn status following massive late-stage equity intakes.

Bengaluru-based fintech lender KreditBee raised $280 million in a Series E funding round at a post-money valuation of $1.5 billion, marking its entry into the unicorn club and making it the first unicorn of India's financial year 2027. The round, which includes $220 million in primary capital, takes the startup's total funding to $540 million. KreditBee has facilitated over 60 million loans so far, manages $1.5 billion in assets under management, and serves more than 18 million unique loan customers with over 230 million app downloads. The company's strong performance—over 44% growth in AUM to ₹15,000 crore and an expected 50% rise in profitability in FY26—was the biggest draw for investors. This marks the company's final private round before a planned public listing.

Real estate platform Square Yards secured ₹900 crore ($95 million) in a funding round anchored by EAAA Alternatives and Muzinich & Co., achieving unicorn status with a valuation exceeding $1 billion. The funding includes around one-third equity and two-thirds debt. During the last fiscal, Square Yards reported revenue of ₹2,086 crore, a 48% year-on-year growth, with EBITDA jumping 3.7 times to ₹176 crore. The company offers integrated services including property search, transactions, home loans, interiors, and property management, and is now preparing for a ₹2,000 crore Initial Public Offering.

Traditional consumer web apps are giving way to hard tech and specialized financial rails. The newest billion-dollar private companies are dominated by firms solving complex logistical, real-estate marketplace, and specialized underwriting problems. As KreditBee scales toward its IPO and Square Yards prepares for its public listing, the message is clear: the era of consumer internet unicorns is fading. The era of deep operational infrastructure, specialized financial rails, and localized market platforms—built on sustainable revenue models and clear profitability paths—is already here.
