Wholesale finance platform United Fintech has entered a new phase of growth, appointing three new partners and establishing a senior leadership team to solidify its position as neutral infrastructure for institutional finance. The company, founded in 2020, now serves more than 250 financial institutions, including 11 of the world's 12 largest banks. Its shareholder base includes five leading wholesale banks—Barclays, BNP Paribas, Citi, Danske Bank, and Standard Chartered—alongside growth investor Danske Growth Capital. The new partners—Guy Hopkins, Rasmus Bagger, and Darren Coote—join Tom Robinson, Marc Levin, and founder-CEO Christian Frahm, expanding the internal ownership group to six. A dedicated senior leadership team now runs day-to-day operations, with Frahm as CEO, Bagger as Chief Commercial Officer, Levin as Chief Operating Officer, and Hopkins as Chief Product Officer. Founder Christian Frahm framed the move as a long-term commitment: "Infrastructure is a long-term business. The people who build it should have the opportunity to own it for the long term".
In parallel, Apple has confirmed plans to launch Apple Pay in India by October 2026, marking the company's entry into the country's premium digital payments market. The service will initially support Visa and Mastercard credit cards but will launch without support for India's dominant Unified Payments Interface (UPI), as Apple requires approval from the National Payments Corporation of India and a sponsoring bank before it can offer UPI-based payments. Apple is reportedly negotiating a transaction fee of 15 to 20 basis points from banks for each credit card payment, though some issuers are pushing for a lower 10-basis-point fee. The fee would be borne by banks and not passed on to customers or merchants. The launch positions Apple to compete in India's growing premium credit card segment, though its initial absence from the UPI ecosystem—which processes billions of transactions monthly—may limit its immediate reach among mass-market users.
